EVERYDAY
WEAR - WASHABLE APPAREL - COTTON CLOTHING
Permanent
repairs that will not wash out can be easily made without needle
and thread. Just follow the General Directions to get the user friendly
repair. In most cases, patches are bonded to the under-side of material
for appearance sake. A thin or light coating of Tear Mender®
on the patch and item helps to avoid bleed through, while delivering
a flexible and long lasting repair.
Frayed
Cuff Edges On Pant Legs and Jacket Sleeves - With
a blade, transfer a small amount of Tear
Mender® by drawing it along the
edge of the cuff. Use your finger to pat the frayed edge.
|
|
BUTTONS
- When
threads loosen, pour a droplet onto a counter and with your finger
transfer a small amount of glue on to the threads in the center
of the button. (Toothpick tip works well for finer applications)
SWEATERS
- Locate the snag and work that loop back
to the underside of the sweater. From a droplet of glue on the counter
use your index finger to transfer a small amount of glue and roll
the thread loop between finger and thumb.
SHOE
LACES - When the cap comes off the end
of the lace and it's become frayed and hard to lace through the
eyelet, roll the lace and between your thumb and index finger with
Tear
Mender® and let dry a few
minutes.

LEATHER
GARMENTS and ACCESSORIES
Surface
Damage and V-Snags - Jackets,
slacks and even shoes can have V-Snags, where small parts of the
finished surface have been pulled away from the leather. Tear
Mender® can
bond to the exposed fiber of the leather and will not harm the finished
surface, so apply some glue between the v-snag and the leather.
Work the glue for complete coverage of both surfaces. Press the
v-snag down on to the leather. Rub the excess glue off the finished
surface. Press down on the repaired area for 2 or 4 minutes. The
items are ready for light usage in minutes. Bond is fully cured
in 2 hours. Tear
Mender® stays
pliable through temperature ranges and is touch friendly.

DENIM
APPAREL - JEANS+JACKETS+SKIRTS - WORK CLOTHES
The
General Use Directions work very well on these items when rips,
tears, snags, and frays need repair. Most of patching should be
done to the under-side of items, unless appearance is not important.
Preventive
Care -
- To
prevent a pin hole in a garment from growing, simply transfer
a small amount of Tear
Mender® (tip
of toothpick works well) to the hole and let dry.
- Reinforce
children's jeans by applying fabric to under-side of knee area.
Follow the General Use Directions. No ironing required; edges
stay attached; and bond will not wash out.

NYLON
and SMOOTH - SYNTHETIC FABRICS
Tear
Mender® will
NOT bond nylon or similar fabric to itself.. BUT a "sandwich
method" works. This type of repair can extend the life of these
items where no other method of repair would be practical.
"Sandwich
Method" - Prepare similar sized patches and trace an outline
of the patch on both sides of the item. Apply Tear Mender® to
the patches, placing them onto one side of the item and then the
other. This gives a vise-like repair that stays flexible.

BOAT
COVERS - BIMINI TOPS - SNOWMOBILE COVERS & SEATS
Most
of these covers are made of Acrylic Fiber materials. These are durable
and fade resistant. Sail covers and bags are another area where
Tear
Mender® benefits
quick and easy repairs. The General Use Directions will help you
get the utility repair you need. NOTE: The patch material can be
cotton or similar porous fiber. Allow 30 minutes for dry time.
Seats
- Snowmobile and Boat - Utility repairs are
very effective by bonding a fabric piece on the back or under-side
of the damaged material. Push patch into puncture / tear and apply
Tear
Mender® onto patch using
tube applicator.

SPORTS
GEAR - EQUIPMENT - BOOTS - SKATES - GLOVES
Leather
and Fabric Back Vinyl - Tear
Mender® bonds well to the
open fiber of torn or ripped leather and to the fabric backing of
most vinyl. In both cases we recommend using a cotton type patch
material as a patch that is bonded to the under-side of the item
with Tear
Mender®.
HOCKEY
GLOVES; SKATES and EQUIPMENT
- can
all be repaired and maintained with Tear
Mender®. Gun
or Bow bags will have permanent repairs that will extend their protective
use. Zipper repair is another area Tear
Mender® really comes in handy for the
fast utility repair

|
UPHOLSTERY
Leather
-
Follow the above procedure to repair rip or punctures. NOTE: Tear
Mender® WILL
NOT HARM finished surface of leather and is easily rubbed off. It
does bond to open (exposed) fiber of the leather.
Fabric
-
Masking of outer surface is recommended to avoid possible damage
from accidental drop of glue. Applicator tube allows for pinpoint
placement of adhesive in tight working conditions and should enhance
your ability to achieve the clean utility repair you desire.
|
|
RECREATIONAL
VEHICLES-CAMPERS-MOTORHOMES-CYCLES
Soft
Top Vinyl -
This
utility repair is permanent and easy to achieve. The patch is bonded
to the fabric side (usually the under-side) of the material. The
repair should be done while the top is un latched to reduce tension
on the fabric. Any cotton or similar fabric works well as patch
material. Refer to the General Directions to make the utility repair.
Added hint.. when patch is bonded to under-side place a small amount
of Tear
Mender® in
the tear or puncture on the surface side.

DOG
EARS
Preparation
of the Ear:
1.
Hair on the inside of the ear flap SHOULD NOT be removed.
2. The ear canal should be flushed with hydrogen peroxide. Let the
ear dry for 10 minutes before proceeding.
3. Using cotton dipped in alcohol, clean the outside and inside
of the ear flap.
Application of Tear Mender:
1. Apply Tear Mender to the hair on the area of the head to
which the ear flap is to be affixed.
2. Apply Tear Mender to the upper portion (tip) of the inside
of the ear flap.
3. The ear flap can now be positioned by bringing the tip in contact
with the head as desired, gluing ear hair to head hair and holding
it in place for 30 seconds or until hold sets.
NOTE: Ear position varies by breed and the dog's natural set,
so be sure to CONSULT A PROFESSIONAL OR BREED MANUAL for proper
positioning.
4. The position should be watched for a few days, and reposition
if adjustment is needed.
5. The ear set should be left until hair growth loosens it. The
ear flap is then gently separated from the head, and the adhesive
is easily peeled off.
Removal:
On Dog - Apply bandage remover, available at drugstores (we suggest
Uni-Solve or Detachol) to hair and then use extra fine flea comb.
On Owner - Tear Mender easily rubs off fingers and solid surfaces.
It is user-friendly and bonds only to surfaces it can penetrate.
